Home Normal was founded in 2008 with a simple aim to release beautiful, unique and soulful minimal organic and electronic works. Curated by Ian Hawgood, the first 30 releases (between the beginning of 2008 to the end of 2011) saw Ian work in collaboration with Jeremy Bible and Christian Roth for the CD and website designs respectively, and his long-term collaborator and friend, Ben Jones with the label itself. After the earthquake of March 2011, it was decided that the entire label and its respective store would move entirely over to Japan. As a result of this, Home Normal is being micro-managed from Ian’s country home in Kasukabe, Japan with the aid of his wonderful wife, friends, pets and lots of tea.

We put on shows in Japan and the UK, often with the aid of Home Normal artists Antony Harrison and Katie English. We currently put on the odd show with our dear friends at Hibernate Recordings (UK) and Flau Records (Japan).

One final note: Home Normal is affiliated with the Nomadic Kids Republic and Tokyo Droning labels. However, these labels are unique unto themselves, and as such, we ask that you refer to the label sites for all relevant information regarding demo submissions, gigs and all that good stuff (ie. do not contact through the Home Normal email and site about these labels, please).
